I know what you are thinking…another clothing subscription box? Keep reading because this one is not like any other! It’s so special! I stumbled upon this one in November 2016. I thought to myself..how cool it would be to be able to rent everyday clothes sort of like Rent the Runway? I don’t need a fancy dress everyday, but I DO want a new outfit to wear to work, one for a night out with friends, or one just because I simply love new things. There had to be something like this right? Well, with the power of Google, I found it and it’s called Le Tote! It really is Le Tote-lly awesome and worth the cheesy play on words. I promise!
As I have started this journey of becoming a runner, I still couldn’t overcome the fact that I am always cold. If I was going to do races outside of the summer, I needed to find clothing to keep me warm but could shed easily as I warmed up during the race. According to this article, “7 Types of Fashionable Runners You Will Always Spot“, I definitely fall into the category of the layering lady.
I needed a headband that stayed in place while I ran as well as cover my ears if needed. At an Expo for a race, we came across this company called Treadbands. This headband has changed my world. It stays in place through the entire run, and I can easily move it on and off my ears as needed. Although it is lightweight, it keeps my ears warm on those cold days. Also, It is the ONLY headband that I have found that doesn’t move during a run. I have two Treadbands, but I have decided that I need a few more so I can discard all other headbands. The Treadbands can be washed in the washing machine, and I air dry them. They are still in amazing shape after many washes.
Another accessory that is a must have is the FlipBelt, which slips easily around your waist to avoid things moving around while running and walking. There are two designs, one with a zipper pouch and one without. I have the FlipBelt without the zipper pouch because I like the open pouch in the back so I can use the FlipBelt water bottle. This water bottle is curved to fit nicely along your back, and it doesn’t move while you run. With the openings in the FlipBelt, I can easily pull the water bottle in and out without missing a step. The front openings in the FlipBelt have a place for you to hook your car key, and I put my phone on the other side. When going for a run or a walk, I never leave home without my FlipBelt!
If you do not think you will need a place for your water bottle, FlipBelt has added a new option, and that is a pouch in the back with a zipper. This is nice if you are bringing money, credit cards, ID, ect. Although I do put my ID and money in mine behind my car key, this isn’t for everyone. Check out the FlipBelt zipper pouch and decide what is best for you. Whichever design you choose, you will not be disappointed. Good news! It can be thrown into the washing machine so no worries if you take it out for a long run.
Way back in February when we started putting out teasers for the blog, the #1 thing people said to me is, “How are you going to have time for that?” I admit, it was also the #1 thing I was saying to myself, along with #2, “Does doing a lifestyle blog mean I can’t wear gym clothes everywhere?” I am definitely a person who likes to be busy. There’s a lot of talk right now about becoming unbusy, and I hear that. My version of busy is filling my days with as much “want to do” and as little “have to do” as possible. So when you hear me say, “I’m so busy!” hear me saying it as if I was Buddy the Elf and not Eyeore. Asking me to sit still is simply asking too much. I find days when we do nothing to be very exhausting, similar to how my introvert husband feels after leaving a party.
The holiday hustle is over and it’s the New Year…bleh…nothing until Memorial Day weekend. This seems to be the worst time of the year. For the past 7 Winters, we have been traveling to the Caribbean with good friends in late January – February time frame. We started going to all-inclusive resorts in Riviera Maya, Mexico for the first 2 years and then decided to go to Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico for our 3rd year and fell in love with the experience. This is our 5th year vacationing in Cabo Rojo. We rent a condo, rent a mini-van as there’s 6 of us (4 adults, 2 children), go to local eateries, grill-out, and go beach-hopping.
A few weeks ago, I got a text from a friend of mine that read “Want to take an aerial yoga class with me?”. My response was “Sure, that might make a great blog post, LOL”. I had visions of me dropping to the floor, getting twisted up, getting stuck upside down and just looking plain ridiculous. A really good opportunity to publicly make fun of myself. Perfect! So, thanks to all of you, I tried Aerial Yoga. I also learned how to spell the word Aerial correctly during this whole experience. I started out spelling it all wrong! Now, I’m fixed! Win! Okay, lets get on with the experience… Continue reading
