Music to my ears

Music to my ears

Today I’m talking about my favorite playlist. I call it my “running mix” mostly because that is the initial reason why I created it. A few months ago, I completed two half marathons (a HUGE accomplishment for a self proclaimed non-runner like me) and couldn’t have done it without this miracle music. But quite honestly, this playlist has turned into my go-to music for just plain ME time. What is it, you ask? Ready for it? —Old school hip hop or at least what I consider old school.

Hip hop today doesn’t give me the same feeling in my bones as those famous old-school beats. Each track takes me back to memories I have created with some awesome people that I am fortunate to call friends. I get to relive those memories every time I turn my “running mix” on. Maybe this is why current hip hop doesn’t do it for me.  Lucky for you, I’m going to share my running mix playlist with all of you today. But first let’s pause for a minute, I can’t talk about music without mentioning my favorite singer of all time! Mary J. Blige has followed me from old school to today.  As you may notice, Mary only makes the “running mix” a couple times because when it’s a Mary day, she gets her own spot and doesn’t need to share it with anyone.

I share this playlist with you because Sincerely Us is about the escape of your day-to-day. I hope that next time you are alone in your car, out for a jog, at the gym, or at home by yourself some of these songs can delight your eardrums. If  hip hop isn’t your thing, that’s okay. Create a playlist just for yourself, one that reminds you of great memories with people you love.

Sincerely Amanda

Now it’s time to keep it old school! (Playlist below)
